About Us
Overall Mission of The Coalition For American Trauma Care
The Coalition for American Trauma Care seeks to improve trauma care through improved care delivery systems, prevention
efforts, research, and by protecting reimbursement for appropriately delivered services. The Coalition seeks to achieve
these goals through advocacy activity in both public policy arenas and in the private sector.
Specific Goals and Objectives
1) Assist the development of organized systems of trauma care.
- Monitor and support on-going efforts within the Health Resources and Services Administration to encourage the development of organized systems of trauma care nationwide.
- Support appropriations for HRSA’s Trauma-EMS program.
- Support related appropriations goals of Coalition Advisory Council Organizations.
- Provide input and help enact legislation reauthorizing Title XII – Trauma Care, of the U.S. Public Health Service Act.
2) Work to support trauma prevention efforts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- Support increased appropriations for the NCIPC.
3) Assist the development of a clinical research base for trauma care at the National Institutes for Health and the Centers for Disease Control, and a trauma health services research base at the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research.
- Work to implement the recommendations of the NIH Trauma Research Task Force report.
4) Protect reimbursement for appropriately delivered services.
- Develop and support opportunities to protect the payment base for appropriately delivered trauma care services.
5) Enhance prehospital post-crash injury control efforts within the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at the Department of Transportation.
6) Work to ensure civilian-military collaboration to promote readiness for military trauma care.
